Variables:

A variable is a symbol that represents an unknown number. It will be equal to a number, but you don't know what that number is yet. Until you figure it out, you use the symbol. The variable you most often see is x. But a variable can really be any letter or symbol that doesn't otherwise have a number associated with it.


Quadratic Equations:

The quadratic formula for the roots of the general quadratic equation In algebra, a quadratic equation (from the Latin quadratus for "square") is any equation having the form ax^2+bx+c=0, where x represents an unknown, and a, b, and c represent known numbers such that a is not equal to 0.


Factoring:

Factoring is the process of finding the factors. It is used to solve (or simplify) many types of equations and expressions.
